Questions to Ask Any Modeling Agency Before You Sign
Eleven questions every model should ask before signing with an agency, plus the answers a professional agency should give. Save this one.
Signing with an agency is a big step. A professional agency will be happy to answer every one of these questions, in writing. Here are the questions, and how Tat Brat answers each one.
- Do I have to pay anything to join?
Our answer: Never. No sign-up, portfolio or training fees. - How do you make money?
A commission on bookings, only when you get paid. - Can I take the agreement home to read first?
Yes. You take time to read it before you sign. - How will I know the details of a job before I say yes?
Every job is confirmed in writing: client, location, hours, rate and usage. - Can I turn down a job?
Yes. You see the details first and choose. - When and how do I get paid?
Clients pay the agency, and we pay your share with a statement showing every job. The agreement spells out the timing. - How are photos and videos of me used?
Usage is listed on every booking: where, how and for how long. - What happens at events to keep me safe?
Signed confirmations, a verified contact at the venue, and a Tat Brat check-in contact before, during and after. - How do you verify my age and identity?
In person, at signing. We never ask for ID photos, bank details or your SSN by text, email or form. - Where will we meet?
A video call first, then a daytime meeting in a public place. - What happens if I want to leave?
The agreement explains how to end it. Ask any agency to show you that part before you sign.
If an answer doesn't feel right
Take your time. A professional agency won't pressure you to sign on the spot or to pay to be considered. Trust the green flags in our guide to how agencies should make money.
