How to Become a Tattoo Model (No Experience Needed)

Tattooed and curious about modeling? Here's what tattoo models actually do, what you need to start, and how to get signed without a big following.

Tattoo modeling isn't a niche anymore. Brands, studios, bars, events and content teams all want people whose ink is part of the look. If you're tattooed, 18 or older and comfortable in front of a camera (or a crowd), you can start without any modeling experience.

What tattoo models actually do

What you need to start

  1. Simple phone photos. A few clear, unfiltered shots: face front, face side, full length, and close-ups of your favorite tattoos. Our phone photo guide shows exactly how.
  2. Reliability. Showing up on time and being easy to work with matters more than experience.
  3. Your measurements and availability. Height, general sizes and when you can work.
  4. An agency that has your back. Someone to find the work, set the rates, put everything in writing and make sure you get paid.

Do you need a big following?

No. Events, tattoo-industry work and most shoots are booked on your look and professionalism, not your follower count. A following helps with brand deals later, but it isn't a requirement to start.

How to choose an agency

A good agency earns money only when you do, puts every job in writing, and never charges you to join. Before you sign anything, read our list of questions to ask any modeling agency.
